Tuning & Maintenance
Drum tuning is dependent upon the style of drumming, the performance situation, whether the drums will require sound reinforcement or will be played acoustically, and the personal preference of the performer. General concepts for basic tuning include uniformity of pitch on both the batter head and resonating head, tuning the tom toms at least a minor third apart, and replacing heads that are dented or pitted or have lost their ability to project and/or ring.
